Case Study | Leadership training when you’re promoted into a senior role

leadership training senior roles

How to lead with confidence and authenticity.

In the case study below, career coach Therese Rahme explains how she helped a client who had recently been promoted into a senior leadership position to handle the transition.

Career success doesn’t always mean finding a new job. Sometimes it means becoming the leader you aspire to be.

The transition into a leadership role can be challenging

Technical expertise and industry experience weren’t enough.

One of my clients came to me after stepping into a senior leadership position. While they had the technical expertise and industry experience to succeed, they found the transition into leadership far more challenging than expected.

They questioned their decisions, found it difficult to delegate, and often felt they needed to have all the answers.

Developing self awareness, confidence and emotional intelligence.

I helped the client recognise their their natural leadership style was one of their greatest assets.

Our coaching focused on developing self-awareness, leadership confidence and emotional intelligence. Through reflective conversations, strengths-based coaching and practical leadership strategies, they began to recognise how their natural leadership style could become one of their greatest assets. We explored communication, decision-making, influencing others and building trust within their team.

As their confidence grew, so did their ability to lead authentically. Rather than trying to emulate someone else’s leadership style, they learned to embrace their own strengths while developing the skills needed to navigate complex conversations, inspire others and create a positive team culture.

The result was more than increased confidence. They became a more effective, resilient and authentic leader who felt equipped to navigate challenges while supporting the growth of those around them.

Leadership is not about having all the answers. It is about understanding yourself, empowering others and leading with purpose and authenticity.

Leadership is not about having all the answers.

Senior leadership brings new challenges.

Stepping into a senior leadership position can bring new challenges, from delegating effectively and making difficult decisions to managing complex conversations and building trust within your team.

Personalised executive coaching can help you better understand your natural leadership style, strengthen your emotional intelligence and develop practical strategies for leading others. Together, we can build the confidence and capabilities you need to lead with authenticity, resilience and purpose.

If you feel misunderstood, underestimated or uncertain about where you belong professionally, personalised career coaching can help you recognise the qualities you bring to the workplace.

Through supportive, strengths-based coaching, we can explore your abilities, values, preferred ways of working and the environments in which you are most likely to thrive. Together, we can develop practical strategies to overcome challenges, build your confidence and identify meaningful career opportunities that reflect who you are.
